§ 10-02-030. Duties.

  • The local emergency planning committee shall coordinate all activities relating to incidents or disasters of this city whether federally or locally declared. It shall:

    (1)

    Coordinate the activities of municipal and private agencies cooperating in the LEPC program.

    (2)

    Keep in contact with the state and local assistance program to the end that all requests and suggestions from that office shall receive prompt and efficient response.

    (3)

    Conduct studies regarding the defense posture of the city to the end that the government will at all times be abreast of the problems regarding mitigation and response to incidents and disasters, and that information desired by the federal agencies will be readily available.

    (4)

    Survey existing facilities, proffers of facilities, services and ideas originating within the city and make appropriate disposition of them.

    (5)

    Act as a clearinghouse on municipal incident and disaster information for all governmental and private agencies cooperating in the LEPC program.

    (6)

    Direct information regarding mitigation and response to all municipal departments or agencies which are or may be affected thereby.

    (7)

    Make recommendations, from time to time, for improvements in the handling of incidents and/or disasters affecting the city.

    (8)

    Perform such other advisory functions as may be requested by agencies or departments of the federal government in connection with the federal response plan.

    (9)

    Do whatever is necessary and proper to carry out the intent and purpose of this chapter, tending to protect life and property.
