§ 8-08-010. Purpose.

The purpose of this article is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the City of Alamogordo through the prevention and control of cross connections by:

(1)

Protecting the municipal water system, owned and operated by the City, hereinafter referred to as the "municipal water system," from contamination or pollution due to cross connections by containing hazards at the service connection;

(2)

Requiring the elimination or control of existing cross connections, actual or potential, between the customer's potable water system(s) and nonpotable water system(s), plumbing fixtures, and industrial piping systems; and

(3)

Providing for the maintenance of a continuing program of cross connection control that will systematically and effectively reduce the risk of the contamination of the municipal water system.
