§ 8-08-170. Alternate materials and methods.

Alternate methods for compliance to achieve the objectives of this article may be submitted for review to the building code division. Approval requires that the customer show that compliance with the requirements would pose an unreasonable burden and that the proposed alternate would provide equivalent backflow prevention.

Procedures for requesting an alternate method for compliance to achieve the objectives of this article. A written application requesting an alternative method for complying with this article shall be addressed to the code official. In order to be considered, the application shall describe the specific requirement(s) for which an alternate installation is requested, justify the request by explaining the site specific circumstances that make compliance with the requirements of this article and associated rule, regulations and specifications is unreasonably difficult or impossible, and propose specific alternate specifications that will provide equivalent cross connection protection. The code official shall provide a written decision to the applicant within thirty (30) days of receipt of a complete application.
