Article IX. THE MUNICIPAL JUDGE

There shall be one Municipal Judge elected for a four-year term, who shall serve in accordance with applicable state law.

Notwithstanding any other provision of the law to the contrary, no person shall be eligible to be elected to or serve in the office of Municipal Judge if that person shall previously have held such office for two (2) or more full consecutive terms. For the purpose of this article, terms shall be deemed consecutive unless more than four (4) years apart, and a term shall be deemed full if a person has served at least half of the time allotted for the term. Service as Municipal Judge prior to the adoption of this section shall not count in determining length of service. The provisions of this section are hereby held severable and if any should be held invalid, the remainder shall stand.
