§ 19-03-010. Creation.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created a parks and recreation board for the city, composed of seven (7) citizens and residents of the city.

    Five (5) members are to be appointed by the mayor with the advice and approval of a majority of the remaining members of the city commission. The other two (2) members are to be appointed by the board of education of the Alamogordo Public Schools.

    (b)

    As the term of office of each city-appointed member of such board expires, the mayor with the advice and consent of the city commission shall appoint a successor for a term of two (2) years. As the term of office of each of the school-appointed members of such board expires, the board of education shall appoint a successor for a term of two (2) years. In case of a vacancy on such board created by death, resignation or other cause, a successor to fill such vacancy shall be appointed in the same manner. The superintendent of schools and the city manager or their delegates shall be ex officio members of the board.

    Members of this board shall receive no compensation for their services, except reimbursement for actual expenditures in the performance of their duties.
