§ 8-08-080. Plan review, permits, and plumbing inspections on premises within the city limits.

  • The building code division shall be responsible for checking plans and issuing building and plumbing permits for new and remodel construction to ensure compliance with this article. The building code division shall conduct inspections and approve all installations of backflow prevention assemblies.

    (1)

    The customer shall submit plans for review and approval by the building code division for installation of backflow prevention assemblies. Where actual or potential cross connections are called for by the plans, the plans shall include the make, model, size and type of any backflow prevention assembly(s) to be installed.

    (2)

    The customer's licensed contractor shall obtain a plumbing permit from the building code division for such installations. All new installations or air-gaps and backflow prevention assemblies shall be inspected and approved by the building code division. The building code division shall notify the utility billing division when installations are completed.

    (3)

    In instances of failure, refusal or inability on the part of the customer to install and have tested said assembly(s) or air-gap(s), the building code division shall suspend or revoke a plumbing permit issued under the administrative provisions of the plumbing code as adopted by the city.
