§ 8-08-180. Remote installation of containment backflow prevention assemblies.

  • In instances where containment backflow prevention assemblies cannot be installed at the service connection, the customer may install the approved backflow prevention assembly at a remote location from the service connection.

    (1)

    On retrofit containment backflow prevention assembly installations, the customer must prove to the satisfaction of the building code division that the water service line between the city meter and the location of the containment backflow prevention assembly is completely protected from actual or potential cross connections. The customer shall implement steps satisfactory to the building code division to assure that no future connections will be made to this portion of the service line.

    (2)

    On new construction, the customer shall protect the service line between the meter and the containment backflow prevention assembly(s) by encasing it in concrete as per standard details and specifications, which are included in the technical specifications. The customer shall implement steps satisfactory to the building code division to assure that no future connections will be made to the service line between the city meter and the containment backflow prevention assembly(ies).
